A NEW book by Newton Abbot-based veterinarian Dr Lennon Foo is aiming to aspire harmony and trust between pet guardians and vets.
When your pet falls ill it’s a stressful time for all concerned - your pet, you, and your vet.
“It can be emotional time,’ said Dr Lennon who runs Amity Veterinary Care.
‘However, by developing a relationship with your vet, talking to them, explaining your need and your pet’s needs, the outcome can be a whole lost less stressful.’
The book, Is My Vet For Real? is guide on how to build that all important relationship and is packed with advice to benefit your pet - as well as offering an insight into the veterinary world.
Lennon, has been a practising vet for 15 years and believes that veterinary medicine should also embrace the beauty of the bond between pet and guardian.
‘I prefer the term pet guardian, as opposed to owner,’ continued Lennon.
‘A dog cat, guinea pig, rabbit is not something you really own. You have to feed them, provide shelter, entertain and be responsible for their well-being - just like you would a child.
‘Pet guardianship can of course be complicated with a mix of huge emotional , physical, mental and financial responsibilities, However, the guardianship you provide is extremely rewarding and has greatly improved many people’s quality of life.
‘I’m hoping that the book will offer a straightforward guide in how to get best for your pet from your vet.’
