THE Old Dispensary Dental Practice in Queen Street, Dawlish, will no longer offer an NHS-service from April 1. However, it will continue to provide NHS-funded dentistry for children registered at the clinic and any patients who are currently exempt from charges. The decision to stop NHS service at the surgery was taken by Dr Frances McMahon, who is in charge at the practice. The service reduction is blamed on major changes taking place in the funding and organisation of the dental service as a whole. In a letter to clients, Dr McMahon said: 'I have a loyalty to the patients under my care and although I have been prepared to support the NHS in the past, I am finding it increasingly difficult to provide the quality of care.'
