Nicky Uppington was in top flight form for NAGS as they polished off Fordealls 413-373 in the first round of the Newton Abbot and District Skittles League Glass Competition at the Jolly Sailor, Ogwell, writes John Balment.
She floored 71 (14, 13, 7, 15, 8, 14) the highest individual score of the week, while Martin Byrne had 64 for the visitors.
The main action centred around the cup competitions with Premier Division side Force 8 taking the steam out of Division Four leaders The Kings, when they set off with a 90 opening leg in their Brinton Cup quarter-final on the league's portable at the Keyberry Hotel.
They had 28 pins in the bag and never looked back in a 455-404 victory.
Anchor Alan Hewings fired 66 for Force 8, with Graham Foster on 62 for The Kings.
In a Woodbine Cup quarter-final, Royals from Division One would have been expected to take Anglers from Division Three.
It didn't turn out that way, the latter putting it over their opponents in no uncertain fashion, moving into the semis with a 393-344 win.
The Anglers' match winner was Tony Turner with 70 (14, 13, 8, 17, 9, 9) while skipper Phil Cockram had 51 for Royals who were always struggling.
Five matches were called off last week because of the weather and a sixth, the Division Three tie between Knighton Tigers and Teign Village, ended abruptly after three legs, with the Village side conceding the points and hotfooting it home after seeing the snow falling outside.
Aardvarks kept their strong pace going in Division One with a 433-375 home success over Prospectors at Kingsteignton's Oakford Club.
Gary Saxton recorded 66 for Aardvarks and Malcolm Moon 56 for Prospectors.
