A FIGHT outside a Teignmouth nightclub while it was operating on a temporary licence was captured on cctv shown to Teignbridge Council Licensing Sub-committee on Thursday last week.

Because police investigations are ongoing it was screened behind closed doors.

Two days before the August 4 incident, police licensing officer Barry Sleight reached agreement with Kools, of 13-14 Northumberland Place, regarding a new premises licence.

After hearing of the melee – which he described as a serious violent incident in what he was led to believe officers had to use personal protective spray – it changed the police stance and at the committee they objected to Pembroke Entertainment Limited's application because it failed the crime and disorder objective.<
