IT COULD be up to nine months before a final decision is made on plans by mining firm Glendinning to expand its quarry operation in Ashburton.
Town councillors were given an update of progress on the bid which Glendinning bosses say will save 240 jobs for the future and extend the lifespan of the quarry at Linhay Hill for up to 60 years.
Dartmoor National Park head of planning Stephen Belli explained that there had been 231 letters in support of the application which was submitted to the authority in June, two years after the company announced it was looking to extend the quarry and are the result of more than 16 months of consultation with neighbours and the Ashburton community.
