AN OFF-DUTY nurse rushed to the aid of a man who suffered a heart attack in Chudleigh today (thurs).

The Good Samaritan was able to give the casualty CPR treatment before three land ambulances arrived at the scene in Fore Street.

The drama happened just after 9am.

An ambulance spokesman later thanked the off-duty nurse for the timely help given at the location.

'In these situations seconds and minutes are vital. The intervention was greatly appreciated,' he said.

The patient was taken by land ambulance to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital at Wonford.

The Devon Air Ambulance was also called to the scene but as it hovered over the town's play park it received a call to say its services were not required and it flew off.
