A lorry driver died when the vehicle he was driving came off the Plymouth-bound carriageway of the A38 and crashed into the hard shoulder of the Exeter-bound lane on Saturday morning.

And in a separate incident a driver suffered serious head and leg injuries following a collision on the A38 on the Plymouth-bound carriageway travelling up Haldon Hill.

As a result the A38 was closed in both directions between Exeter and Chudleigh for most of the day resulting in delays throughout the day. Traffic was diverted on to the A382 and A380, Newton Abbot and Splatford Split.
