THE FIRST of two one act plays by Ipplepen Amateur Dramatic Society takes place at Ipplepen Village Hall tonight (Friday) at 8pm.

White Man Van is a drama written by society member Dave Wells, who also plays the part of Roger in the production.

Roger is the owner a business that is failing rapidly. His wife Gill is unhappy as their 25 year marriage becomes strained. His son Tyler, played by Chris Green, has once again got himself into trouble over money, only this time it is serious. His brother is terminally ill and his mother is getting more frail by the day. Could things get any worse?

Gill has no intention of ending up alone and penniless and aided and abetted by Maria, played by Izzy Walton, she cooks up a plan that she believes might be the answer to her problems. A daring and wicked plan.

Saturday night sees the second of the two plays take to the stage. A Family Affair, by Christopher Owen, is a comedy set in Dilys and Brian’s dining room in a small town in Wales.

The action takes place over Sunday lunch. Dilys played by Lucy Popham, and Miriam played by one of the Society’s new members, Bats , are sisters who have always been jealous of each other, especially where men are concerned.

Brian, played by Anthony Cottle, is Dilys’ husband and is often caught in the middle. However, it turns out he has a few surprises up his sleeve.

Tickets are priced at £6 for adults (concessions £5) are available online from www.ticketsource.co.uk/ipplepen-amateur-dramatic-society. Both productions are deemed not suitable for children under 16 years of age.
