A postcard sent to describe life in the Kingsteignton of 2025 could tell the reader: 'Plenty of places to get out and walk and cycle, there's loads to do. There's practically no traffic and it's a peaceful place with a real sense of community. PS - They've got cracking real ales and locally made pasties as well!'

That was just one resident's hopes for the future, shared with the team which this week published its people-driven strategy to boost the fortunes of the growing town.

Work on the original Kingsteignton Community Plan began in 2007, kickstarting a process which has rumbled on ever since.

A year ago, prompted by the government's desire to shake up the planning system and encourage local decision making, the Kingsteignton Community Plan Implementation Group swung into renewed action hoping to capitalise on the opportunity.
