FIRE crews from Ashburton and Buckfastleigh were called into action twice on Friday.

The Teignbridge firefighters were first mobilised to the A38 following a collision involving a pickup truck that had overturned.

It was reported a vehicle collided with two HGVs parked in the layby causing it to roll, Devon & Cornwall Police said.

‘Crews made the vehicle and the area safe before departing, this incident caused long queues and delays on the north bound carriageway of the A38’ a spokesperson for Buckfastleigh Fire Station said.

The second of Friday’s incidents [May 30] saw Ashburton and Buckfastleigh attend a collision in the Avonwick area.

A car collided first with a motorbike before careening across the road and into a garage, becoming stuck against the wall.

‘Our crews had to remove the car doors and some building furniture in order to release the gentleman.

‘Thank you to the occupiers of the garage for all of their assistance during the incident’.
