TEIGNBRIDGE Council Planning Committee on Tuesday went against officers’ advice and granted an application to change the use of the Barn, Lower Mead, Ashburton from light industrial to a nursery school, writes John Balment.

‘We searched the area for more suitable premises and we came across the Barn, at Lower Mead. This is a fantastic opportunity and there is overwhelming support from the parents, town council and highways,’ said Mr Marshall who added that without premises, 13 teachers and other staff would lose their jobs.
