A CRUMBLING pavilion in Newton Abbot’s Forde Park is to be transformed into a not-for-profit cafe.
Members of Teignbridge Council’s planning committee gave Dr Mark Clavis’s venture the seal of approval on Tuesday morning.
The enterprise will be run by adults with special needs to provide them with skills, education and work experience.
Cllr Mike Pilkington said the new business will make a positive contribution to the area and will enhance the run down building.
Work to install a ramp and path for disabled access will also be carried out
Some concerns were expressed about parking in the area, which is a problem for residents.
Fourteen councillors voted in favour of the scheme with one objecting.
