With an overall five per cent rise on the cards council officials have promised 'more inventive ways' to spread the burden.

The review has come as Teignbridge Council prepares to set its budget for the coming two years and has asked the public to say which services it wants protected and where the cuts should fall.

Among the parking suggestions are permits to allow residents free stays outside busy times and increasing some charges in town centres to encourage better use of car parks further out.
