A FAMILY cycling day at a local community centre saw riders young and old hop on a blender bike to make a smoothie and depart with some cycling top tips to boot.

Last Thursday, the Buckland Centre played host to the bike-themed activity day which gave people the chance to try out an electric bike, navigate an obstacle course, learn about the localities cycle routes and make a smoothie on a bike powered blender.

Local youngster Niall got the spokes spinning and blended up a fruit filled smoothie.

Graham Brodie of Good Cycling was on hand to perform bike checks and minor repairs as ‘Doctor Bike’ as well as offer advice.

The event was organised by the Newton Abbot Community Interest Company: the organisation supports activities and projects aimed at improving the quality life of those living and working in Newton Abbot and surrounding communities.
