IT was a case of eat, drink and raise money in Moretonhampstead last weekend.

The town’s annual food and drink festival, now in its fourth year, is a supporting sideline to this week’s carnival.

The festival took place on Saturday, with Cross Street being transformed into a gastronaut’s delight filled with stands offering tempting tasting treats and liquid libation - both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

‘The event was a great success and really well supported,’ said festival organiser Sam Parkin.

‘There were 31 stalls in total and I think we had something for everyone’s taste. Many of last year’s favourites returned, including Moreton’s own Papillion Dartmoor Gin and Sophies Bangin’ Bakes, and we even had buskers providing live music throughout the day to keep people entertained.’

Proceeds from the event, which total around the £1000 mark, will go to Moretonhampstead Carnival which supports local charities.
