OUCH! This poor little pigeon is no more after initially surviving a crossbow attack in Ipplepen.
Amateur snapper Bernard Morey produced this picture of the ailing bird sporting a crossbow bolt firmly embedded in its chest.
The shooting victim survived for some two weeks as he regularly popped in to
Bernard’s garden where it was a welcome and vociferous visitor.
But after a fortnight he noticed the deadly bolt had fallen out and a deadly infection had taken its place. The pigeon made less noise.
‘I suppose the bolt must have sealed the wound, which helped. Now we don’t see it anymore,’ he said with regret.
