AMBITIOUS plans costing more than £30 million have been unveiled to put Ashburton back on the nation's railway map.

Detailed proposals for the venture have been outlined by the Friends of Ashburton Station who want to save old station buildings in Chuley Road and invest in a £2 million Heritage Centre celebrating the town's rich railway history.
