A further 48 homes could be on the cards for Chudleigh after Bovis Homes announced detailed plans for land at the southern end of the town.
The six-acre plot, Coburg Fields, lies between the Parade and housing in Moor View and Beechwood Road.
It is adjacent to the field off Oldway where David Wilson Homes is working on 76 new properties.
The Bovis site is currently undeveloped and in 2008 the firm staged a public exhibition to outline its ideas.
Now it has submitted a planning application for a mix of two, three and four-bedroomed houses.
Current rules imposed by Teignbridge Council demand that 40 per cent of those should be affordable and either made available for rent through a housing association or sold either at below market cost or on a shared equity basis.
