POLICE have been conducting house-to-house inquiries after two Kingsteignton community buildings were broken into.
The OAP Club at Oakford and the community resource centre both fell victim in what police think may have been related incidents.
But the would-be thieves did not profit from either attack.
Offenders forced an entry into the OAP Club through a UPVC kitchen window between 11am on February 13 and 9.30am the next day. They kicked open an office door, breaking the lock, and forced open a filing cabinet, causing £1,000 damage. They left empty-handed.
During the same period, an attempt was made to enter the community resource centre through a fire door, but the attempt was unsuccessful.
Officer in charge PC Dan Wojciechowski, of Newton Abbot police, said: 'We're looking for any witnesses that may be able to supply us with information on people acting suspiciously around this time.'
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Wojciechowski on 0845 2777444, quoting crime ref JN/11/412.
