THERE’S a heavy police presence in Newton Abbot tonight (Wednesday, August 27) following an incident in the town.

The lower end of Tudor Road has been closed off following reports of an alleged assault in the area with numerous police vehicles seen parked up in East Street.

Eyewitnesses at the scene have said that police are not permitting anyone to enter Tudor Road and a search of the area, which involves officers along with a police dog unit, appears to be in progress.

Devon & Cornwall Police have been approached for a comment.
