Newton Abbot police have called on the public to help trace those responsible for offensive graffiti on trees in Bradley Woods.
The images, daubed in black spray paint, included swastikas and genitalia. The names Joe and Liam were also there, as were the initials JH.
It is thought they appeared between Friday, April 8, and the following day.
Although most of the material has now been removed, beat manager PC Ian Russell said the culprits needed to be caught.
'The graffiti was close to the weir and near a path used by the public, it was offensive and could have caused upset,' he said.
'It's an area favoured by children who might have been particularly affected. We don't want anyone spoiling our facilities and I would urge anyone who knows who did this to give me a call.'
