POLICE in Newton Abbot have issued a warning to children and parents about the dangers of disused buildings.
Officers are specifically highlighting one building which they say children are referring to as ‘2 Star’ although they have not identified its location.
In a statement, they said: ‘To the parents who have heard their children talk about ‘2 star’ and to the youths that know what it is…we know who you are as we can see you on our page.
‘We have recently attended the location with South Devon and Dartmoor Community Safety Partnership and have seen first hand the dangers that are inside this building.
‘They include unstable floors and roofs and smashed glass.’
There is a danger youngsters could become trapped inside and there are also fire hazards.
Some of floors are unstable and there is a very high risk of serious injury or even death if they were to collapse.
If an accident happened inside then the emergency services will struggle to get inside to help and rescue.
The spokesman added: ‘Parents and guardians, please ensure you know where your child is and have honest conversations about the dangers of this building.’
