KENTON AND STARCROSS

ALAN CONNETT (LIB DEM) 848

MEGAN DEBENHAM (GREEN) 149

LUCILLE BAKER (CON) 93

EMOTIONAL Alan Connett has earned himself another four years on Teignbridge Council – 24 years after being first elected.

Cllr Connett, a former district authority leader, romped home with nearly 850 votes with his closest opponent only gaining 149.

He said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled to bits. Today marks 24 years since I was first elected to serve Kenton and Starcross.

‘I am feeling rather emotional that residents have voted me in for another four years. I love representing the area.’

Cllr Connett said he was ‘surprised’ that Jeremy Christophers had been booted out of office, but said it was a reflected of how fed-up residents across Teignbridge.

He said it was ‘too early to say’ if the Lib Dems would take back control of Teignbridge.
