RESIDENTS in Chudleigh have voted to keep their current Lib Dem members in place for another four years.

Richard Keeling and Lorraine Evans came out on top in today’s election with 918 and 698 votes respectively.

The duo were not at the count as they were on a Chudleigh Twinning Group trip to France, but said they were both ‘ecstatic’ in a conversation with the Mid-Devon Advertiser.

Cllr Keeling said from the France-bound ferry said: ‘It is a great result and we will both carry on working for residents.’

He said the Lib Dems taking control of Teignbridge was a credit to the political group’s hard fought campaign.

Cllr Keeling admitted he was pleased to see ‘the captain of the Conservatives go down with the ship,’ referring to Jeremy Christophers’ shock defeat.
