Youngsters in Teignbridge are in for a treat as the popular Teignstars children’s activity programme has been relaunched with a new look.
Run by Teignbridge Council, Teignstars is a well-established play scheme for children aged from three to 13.
It runs across Teignbridge’s three leisure centres: Newton Abbot Leisure Centre, Dawlish Leisure Centre and Broadmeadow Sports Centre in Teignmouth.
The programme provides holiday activities, birthday parties and a crèche for children of all abilities.
It opens daily during school summer and Easter holidays and during some half-term breaks.
Activities include learning new skills such as swimming or trampolining and junior exercise and sports classes.
There’s also a crèche at Newton Abbot Leisure Centre where people can leave their child in the care of a qualified childcare team.
As well as the marketing material and logo being given a more contemporary update, the aim has been to help ease the pressure on parents particularly when it comes to planning a birthday party.
Teignbridge has come up with a range of options to suit all tastes, from pool inflatables to soft play and discos with the emphasis very much on making it as personal as possible for each child but also easy to manage.
As an optional extra, ‘party rangers’ can help with the smooth running of a birthday party too.
Teignstars is getting ready for the busy Easter break.
Some of the activities available include sport, art, crafts, games, competitions and swimming.
Cllr Phil Bullivant, Teignbridge Council’s executive member for recreation and leisure, said: ‘We know that the way people use our facilities is changing and through this new brand we are offering more ways for people to use our leisure centres for fitness, holiday activities and birthday celebrations.
‘Leisure centres are more than just a gym or swimming pool – we’re places that people can come together and have fun. Teignstars is really popular and the rebrand reflects its playful, colourful nature.
‘We’d encourage any parents with a child’s birthday to look at our options and book in.’
Teignstars has a ’Good’ Ofsted rating across the board for effectiveness of the leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, and personal development, behaviour and welfare.
