PARK runs are coming to Teignmouth.
The free weekly 5k timed runs are popular around the world, and now could be a regular Saturday morning event in the town.
Cllr Paul Burgess, who is promoting the runs with the backing of the town and district councils, has called a public meeting tomorrow at Bitton House, to form a core of volunteers to run and marshall the proposed course of along the seafront and Mules Park.
‘Park runs are open to everyone, are free, safe and easy to take part in.
‘They encourage people of every ability to take part – from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians, from juniors to those with more experience. All are welcome,’ he said.
‘There are also junior park runs of 2k for children aged between four and 14.
‘We anticipate around 100 participants each week running every Saturday morning at 8am to 8.30am. This will attract new visitors to the town.’
Cllr Burgess added they so far had about 162 people who had expressed an interest in becoming involved. The meeting starts at 7pm.
