KINGSTEIGNTON swimming pool supporters have hit back at critics who questioned the need for a £2,000 council grant.
The issue was raised when town councillor Bruce Moss suggested that because organisers running the 25m outdoor heated pool had £39,000 in the bank, grant money should be retained by the council in case of any desperate need.
Stressing that he fully supported the pool and applauding the committee for its fund-raising efforts and turning around the financial fortunes of the pool, Cllr Moss argued that there was no specific project the grant would be used for and with so much money already amassed, there was no need for the extra cash.
