The Kingsteignton pressure group fighting plans for a 1,700 home 'urban village' is to try once more to prove that Teignbridge councillors are guilty of misconduct charges. The Kingsteignton Residents' Environmental Awareness Group claimed that Cllrs Alan Connett, David Cox and Brian Berman failed to declare a prejudicial interest when making decisions relating to the Local Development Framework options for growth in the Newton Abbot area. But when KREAG's chairman Jim White referred the three to the Standards Board for England last month, that body found there was no case to investigate. Now Cllr Cox has received a letter from KREAG informing him that the group is to appeal against the decision. 'At least they did me the courtesy of letting me know rather than telling the press first, which is what they did last time,' he said. 'They're entitled to appeal but quite frankly I don't think it will help them one bit as I don't believe the SBfE will come to any different conclusions. 'I would much rather people such as KREAG who feel they aren't being properly represented by their elected representatives came and talked with us more and worked with us. 'They must understand that the Local Development Framework process remains a consultation process and even if we make recommendations the outcome is far from being a foregone conclusion.' The SBfE is likely to make a decision on the appeal within the next two weeks.
