A MAN at the centre of a police siege in Princetown has moved out of his barricaded house on to the roof.
All the emergency services are camped outside the man’s home in Oakery Close after a disturbance there was reported to police just before 7.30am today.
Armed officers have surrounded the house while a specially trained negotiator tries to reason with the man to give up his position.
It’s understood the man, who has not been named, is armed with knives and a gas canister.
Initial reports suggested he had made threats to set fire to the property.
A 100m security cordon is in operation around the house. Neighbours were evacuated for their own safety early this morning.
A police spokesman said the man had moved on to the roof this afternoon.
‘We are still trying to engage with him,’ said the spokesman said at 3pm.
The man has climbed on top of a chimney stack after displacing roof slates to reach his precarious perch.
