Congratulations on publishing the brilliant letter from Barry Kaye in last week's Mid-Devon Advertiser.

My wife and I had the privilege of attending the talk by Vincent Cable at Dartington. Unlike most MPs, he spent time in industry before going into politics, whereas most Conservatives go into politics direct from Eton. He backed Richard Younger-Ross, who accepted his errors as an MP with a good memory.

Anne Marie Morris forgot the three-day week, the many power cuts and unemployment – more than three million in a financial crisis which only affected this country.

Gordon Brown, as Chancellor of the Exchequer, made vast improvements which the current financial crisis – which is global now – seems to be levelling out, with unemployment below three million, this despite the media and biased newspapers. This includes the BBC's aggressive Martha Carne condemning him at every opportunity.

The Daily Mail even cast David Cameron as a split personality – capable politician and 'spiv'.

I don't know how voters can consider voting Conservative with all the information available. Is it landed gentry or family tradition?

It seems inconceivable that the next government will be Conservative without suitable leadership although, having heard Mel Stride speak, I feel it could be possible. Without suitable leaderships another decline is likely to occur.
