The health and safety executive is probing a major incident in which a lorry fire closed the A38 at Drumbridges.

And it was 24 hours before the Highways Agency declared the road undamaged, even though it had been reopened to traffic.

A white line marking lorry carrying four large gas cylinders caught fire at 4.30am on Tuesday.

Fire crews battled to extinguish the fire, which was out by 7am.
