TOWNS across Teignbridge are benefiting from a fund aimed at boosting footfall through improved facilities and attractions.

Teignbridge Council’s Town Improvement Fund is supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).

This fund has awarded up to £60,000 to town councils across the district for high‑quality capital projects designed to enhance high streets, attract visitors, and strengthen the local economy.

The fund aims to boost footfall by creating or improving facilities, amenities, tourism attractions, and cultural or heritage assets within our town centres.

All funded projects are now underway and due to be completed by the end of the financial year.

One of the schemes is Discover Making in Bovey Tracey, where a new Ceramic Hub is being developed at the historic Riverside Mill.

Delivered in partnership between Bovey Tracey Town Council and MAKE Southwest, the hub will offer a dedicated space for ceramic learning, creativity, and skills development for residents, schools, community groups, and visitors.

The new facility will feature ceramic wheels, specialist tools, and a fully operational kiln studio, enabling a wide programme of workshops led by professional ceramic makers.

Sessions will give people of all ages the chance to explore ceramics, develop new skills, and enjoy the wellbeing benefits of creative activity.

The project also aims to safeguard specialist ceramic skills for future generations, with additional funding applications submitted to support free community sessions and increase access.

The Town Improvement Fund has also supported the creation of The Cosy Cinema in Buckfastleigh - a new community cinema offering affordable entertainment in a welcoming, relaxed setting, as well as the transformation of Culver Green Play Park in Chudleigh into a modern, inclusive, and accessible space for children and families.
