PROTESTORS are expected at Forde House tomorrow as approval is being recommended for 450 homes on the outskirts of Newton Abbot. The plans are part of the controversial NA3 development allocation area.
The application has prompted councillors from Newton Says No - who formed to fight the NA3 proposals - to urge their supporters to attend Tuesday’s Teignbridge planning meeting and protest. Leaflets have been posted to homes close to the development site to alert residents to the application.
Asking their followers to reject the plans, Newton says No announced: ‘If approved, the rest of NA3 will follow. So we really, really need you to turn up to the planning committee on Tuesday, January 21 at 10am at Forde House to let councillors know that this whole thing is NOT what the town needs or wants.’
In this separate application by the Rew family, permission is also sought for a retail centre, offices, and employment space.
The proposals would include the demolition or conversion of existing farm buildings to the west of Kingskerswell Road at Langford Bridge Farm, within the development boundary for Newton Abbot and the Teignbridge local plan. The site is located around 240 metres to the south of Decoy Country Park Local Nature Reserve.
The application has been submitted as a hybrid, seeking both outline planning permission and full planning permission.
Teignbridge planners are due to meet tomorrow to assess the proposals. Read the full report in Friday’s paper.
