EDUCATION and business leaders are celebrating after the government approved their bid for a £9.7 million university technical college in Newton Abbot.

Now the team spearheading the project will be concentrating on selecting a site for the new college, which will focus on engineering, water and the environment, providing new learning opportunities for 600 14 to 18-year-olds.

Several locations are currently under consideration, all in the town centre and the premises will be a brand new building which it is planned will be up and running by 2015.
