NEWTON Abbot's award-winning CCTV, which in three years has been responsible for the recovery of £111,000 worth of stolen goods and 1,526 arrests since 2010, is to be blacked out.

Teignbridge Council Executive on Tuesday unanimously agreed to pull the plug at the end of March, to make annual revenue savings of £40,050.

The system monitors cameras in Newton Abbot, Dawlish and Bovey Tracey – Chudleigh Town Council withdrew earlier this year.
