The signs of success are obvious at St Michael's Primary School, Kingsteignton, where two creative pupils have had their life-saving messages turned into official traffic notices. Megan Winsbarrow, seven, and Aiden Yates, nine, both submitted designs when the school ran a competition in February to promote safe cycling. After a difficult round of judging, it was decided that top honours among the 50 or so entrants should go to Aiden, with Megan following a close second. Now Devon County Council has had the signs professionally made up and they are due to be erected on the periphery of the school grounds to remind drivers of their responsibilities. 'They look absolutely great,' said headteacher Martin Harding. Both youngsters were awarded prizes for their eye-catching designs, with Aiden receiving a new bike from village firm Hot Pursuit.
