WITH Traffic Regulation Orders to, among other things, introduce a 20mph speed limit and restrict vehicular traffic in the Queen Street area, having been approved by nine votes to one at Thursday's meeting of Devon County Council's Highways and Traffic Orders Committee, South Devon Alliance leader, Cllr Richard Daws, has his say on the outcome.
‘We were hoping TDC Lib Dem councillors would implement their new promise to be community led in the decision on Queens Street' Cllr Daws said.
'Everyone accepts improvements would be helpful but we know the retailers and Town Council don’t support the current plan.
'Rather than rethink, what was put forward by Cllr Connett was yesterday’s plan presented by yesterday’s man - Connett seemingly still has the power to influence bad calls.
'I’d say it’s shocking this got approved, but it’s not, sadly another predictable example of councillors ignoring informed and overwhelming feedback' he added.
