LIBERAL Democrats in Newton Abbot are calling for the resignation of a county councillor who has been living in France for the last seven months.

Conservative councillor Eve Barisic, pictured, who was elected to serve Newton Abbot north in the 2013 elections, moved abroad with her husband and family last year.

But she has defended the move. Devon County Council confirmed they have received no complaints about her and that she has not broken regulations relating to being an elected councillor.

A spokesman said she was still attending county council meetings regularly.
