RAIL passengers are being urged not to travel to and from, or within Devon and Cornwall today. Following yesterday’s torrential downpours lines throughout the country have been damaged, making many impassable. The mainline into Devon and Cornwall has been blocked due to the weather in two separate places. The route between Tiverton Parkway and Exeter St Davids has been ‘severely damaged’ and Network Rail are unable to give an estimated time of reopening until water levels subside. Although BBC Travel Southwest is reporting that no trains will be going to or leaving Exeter St Davids for the next 48 hours. A Great Western Railway spokesman said: ‘Flooding is causing disruption across the GWR route. ‘Passengers are strongly advised not to travel to and from, or within certain areas in Devon and Cornwall on Tuesday, November 22.
