THE rain came at the wrong time for the Moretonhampstead Carnival procession on Thursday last week.

It arrived just before the procession began its journey through the town and, unfortunately, poured down.

There were some excellent entries, and while some spectators dived for shelter, those in the procession braved the elements.

The weather had been kinder during the day for the annual furry dance in The Sentry, and the crowning of the carnival fairy queen, Isla Newell.
