The Chudleigh branch of St John Ambulance is £800 closer to acquiring a new ambulance thanks to the Teign Country Show and Vintage Rally. The July event, held at Oak Field, Chudleigh, attracted plenty of visitors and was described by organiser Mike Buscombe as 'very successful'. It featured more than 40 steam engines, 30 classic cars, 25 motor bikes and acres of trade stands. Other distractions were provided by groups as diverse as the Crediton Bluebell Majorettes and the South Hams Dog Agility team. Chairman of Chudleigh St John, Beryl Plummer, was presented with a cheque by Mr Buscombe during a ceremony at The Highwayman's Haunt pub. Mr Buscombe has extended his thanks to everyone who attended the show and announced that plans for the 2007 event, on July 7 and 8, are already under way.
