Kingsteignton headquartered food wholesaler R D Johns has extended its empire after buying a foodservice supplier based in Hampshire.
R D Johns said its acquisition of Cooper Foods in Andover would extend its reach across the Home Counties and outer London.
‘Cooper Foods brings with it a wealth of experience, particularly in fresh butchery, fresh fish and foodservice products – areas that perfectly complement our existing strengths,’ an R D Johns spokesperson said.
‘By bringing our two teams together, we are unlocking new opportunities to enhance our service offering, broaden our product range and better support our customers – both new and existing,’ the spokesperson added. ‘This is more than just a business move; it’s a strategic move based on shared values and a common vision for excellence, innovation and growth.’
Founded in 1986, Cooper Foods began as a seafood specialist and grew to supply a range of fresh and frozen foods to the hospitality industry including meats, frozen pies, individual meals, desserts, UHT products and tinned tomatoes.
‘Cooper Foods has built an outstanding reputation for quality, service, and customer care. Their passion for delivering premium produce and their deep understanding of the foodservice industry make them a natural fit for the R D Johns group,’ the R D Johns spokesperson explained. ‘We’re confident that this acquisition will foster even greater success for our customers, employees, and suppliers and we look forward to the journey ahead and the continued support of our dedicated teams, loyal customers, and valued partners,’ the spokesperson added.
Family-run R D Johns has grown into one of the leading food wholesalers in the south west since it was established more than 50 years ago.
Last year, the business unveiled a showcase kitchen in Kingsteignton to show customers how to get the best out of its range of products and to build a community where food-lovers could share ideas and tips.
