Denbury and Ipplepen Savoyards have been busy putting the finishing touches to their production of HMS Pinafore. The group will perform the musical at St Andrew's Church, Ipplepen, tonight, and at St Mary's Church, Denbury, tomorrow. 'We've been rehearsing for a couple of months,' said Joan New, musical director of the Savoyards. 'All the people in the cast come from the two villages and there is great camaraderie in the chorus and principal characters. 'We are lucky to have eight tenors in our group. There's a little joke that all tenors must retire to the two villages,' she joked. Performances of HMS Pinafore start at 7.30pm. The Savoyards will give funds raised to the churches where they perform.
