Remembrance Sunday, which falls on November 13 in 2016, is a day for the nation to remember and honour those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom.

It is held in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth as a day ‘to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two world wars and later conflicts’. It is held on the second Sunday in November, the Sunday nearest to November 11, Armistice Day – the anniversary of the end of hostilities in the First World War at 11am in 1918.See Next week’s paper for coverage of Remembrance Sunday ceremonies across Teignbridge.
