RESIDENTS in Kingsteignton say they have been kept in the dark over cost-cutting measures to switch off street lights.

Devon County Council is introducing part lighting in many streets across the county where there will be none between midnight and 6am to save energy and money.

But residents are concerned that they were neither asked their opinion nor told the lights were being switched off.

Becky Filby, of Primrose Close, Kingsteignton, believes more effort should have been made to inform residents.

She said: 'I feel we should have been able to negotiate over this.
