DAVE GRYLLS, of Wolverton Drive, Kingsteignton, writes:

While we make note of Teignbridge Council's assurances regarding the old Willcocks' offices, I fear the residents of Kingsteignton are not wholly convinced.

As previously stated, I do not think for one minute that residents would deny help to these unfortunate addicts and offenders. The Shekinah Mission should be commended for the work they do.

The main concern here is the location, and the proximity to schoolchildren and alcohol outlets.

It is emphasised by Teignbridge Council that the selection of residents will ultimately be their decision. My apologies, but that certainly does not make the residents of Kingsteignton feel really assured. The simple solution is, do not make this placement. Surely there must be many families and deserving cases who could occupy these premises and would pose no threat.

We are very pleased to think that these premises should, at long last, be made available for living accommodation. I have personally written many times to Kingsteignton council, concerning the non-use of this property.

It would seem that various councils are all too willing to build on green field sites in preference to developing older premises.

Sorry! Teignbridge, for me the present proposal is a non-runner. What next? an open prison at the defunct buildings of the Community Resources Centre?

Come on, Teignbridge, get real, we live here.MORE LETTERS IN OUR DIGITAL EDITION
