residents in Kingsteignton fear new flats being created from an empty office building could be home to recovering drug addicts and ex-offenders.
But Teignbridge Council says it will have a say in who gets to live in the former Willcocks office in Newton Road and prospective tenants will not be from any specific group.
The rumours were sparked because a Plymouth-based charity, the Shekinah Mission, has applied to planners for a change of use to convert the building into four flats.
The charity helps former addicts and offenders reintegrate back into society.
