Teignmouth Rotary Club has been rocked by the resignations of three top officers from the executive in a dispute over modernisation.
The long simmering dispute, which includes differences over trying to attract women members, has caused a deep rift which has come to a head.
Now the trio are planning to set up a new club to try and attract younger business people, fearing that without a change of attitude the club will die.
The club which has about 34 members with an average age of about 70 has been split for some time between those who demand a more flexible policy and a majority who are happy for things to stay much as they are.
