Jane Wright, of Blueberry Warren, Chudleigh, writes:
I am writing in support of the letter from Ben Gayler.
Blueberry Warren pet Shop and Rescue Centre had a stall for a short time at Chudleigh Market, but felt driven out. The market is there for four short hours twice a week and is therefore no major threat to any similar businesses that are permanent.
I do not think Mr and Mrs Keeling have stood any sort of competition since they took over pets Corner, and yet as Mr Gayler so rightly pointed out, think nothing of opening a grooming parlour directly across the road from a well established salon. This is what caused the now long standing feud that exists in Chudleigh in the first place.
Having been a resident in Devon for over 50 years may I suggest that people new to the area should respect what is already here when they take over a local business and try to make friends with the established businesses rather than bulldozing their way into local life.
I would like to take this opportunity to inform whoever it may concern that Blueberry Warren is a rescue centre for rabbits and guinea pigs and caged birds and has been for the last 13 years. We have a pet shop which supports the rescue centre. We are self-funding and have never yet made a profit. We are also not a puppy farm and our dogs are never caged.
We do not supply Pets Corner with our Blueberry Mix and we have never supplied them with rabbits or guinea pigs.MORE LETTERS IN OUR DIGITAL EDITION
