Generous residents at The Priory, a retirement village in Abbotskerswell, have raised £400 for Cancer Research UK thanks to a well-attended coffee morning held earlier this month.

The charity’s Cancer Research Committee baked a mouth-watering range of cakes, scones and quiches. These were sold on the day along with tea, coffee and other refreshments.

This is the second year The Priory has hosted Cancer Research UK. The charity has an excellent relationship with the village’s Residents’ Association, which helped organise the coffee morning.

‘At The Priory we do our very best to support good causes, assisting with fundraising events whenever we can and making donations,’ says village manager Shirley Buckley.

‘This is a great reflection on our community and I’d like to thank everyone who helped with or supported the coffee morning. ’

The Priory is operated by Retirement Villages, one of the UK’s leading age-exclusive community providers.
